Saving A Life — Revised 2026 Editions
Series 1 - A New Beginning
The Adventure Universe begins in the Annapolis, Maryland and Chesapeake Bay region of the United States. Here, new friendships form, young dogs and their high-school partners begin their journey toward search-and-rescue training, and everyday experiences start opening doors to much larger possibilities. Readers are introduced to the arts through architecture, culinary skills, sculpture, and painting, while practical lessons include first aid, fire safety, and other real-world skills. Communication, empathy, responsibility, teamwork, and concern for others become central themes. Introduced early and reinforced through a series of unique and exciting adventures, these qualities help turn ordinary young teens into an increasingly capable and community-changing team.
Series 2 - Adventures in the Pacific Northwest
The team leaves familiar surroundings behind and discovers how much there is to learn when the world suddenly becomes bigger. Adventures in the Pacific Northwest brings new geography, cultures, relationships, outdoor challenges, search-and-rescue experience, professional contacts, and opportunities to discover careers and organizations that turn knowledge into service. The series establishes the pattern that will carry through Adventure Universe: new skills, greater maturity, unexpected paths, wider communities, and practical knowledge that may begin as curiosity but can later become capability.
Series 3 - Sailing the East Coast
A major sailing adventure carries the team down the eastern coast of the United States and into the Bahamas, where navigation, seamanship, communications, observation, first aid, planning, teamwork, and trust become much more than things to learn—they become skills people depend on. Competition and travel introduce new communities, environments, and cultures while the young teens increasingly discover that serious problems can exist beneath even beautiful surroundings. As their responsibilities grow, the adventure expands into rescue, recovery, trafficking awareness, public service, and helping survivors find safety, stability, education, and new possibilities for their lives.
Series 4 - Discovering the Smoky Mountains
Exploration, nature, friendship, and learning come together as the Adventure Universe expands through the Smoky Mountains and the southeastern United States. Outdoor discovery shares the journey with wildlife, cooking, science, study skills, hospitality, immigration, community programs, gang intervention, education, and the challenge of understanding difficult subjects by breaking them into manageable pieces. Again and again, the team sees that knowledge matters most when it can be used—whether helping one child, supporting a community, understanding another person's experience, or discovering a career or interest that might otherwise have remained invisible.
Series 5 - Becoming Leaders
As the characters grow, so does the responsibility placed in their hands. Becoming Leaders moves Adventure Universe into historically grounded international challenges, including Argentina and the wider consequences of South America's Dirty War, while asking what capable and morally committed people should do when institutions and individuals fail others. Leadership here means more than being in charge: organizing people, teaching, gathering information, understanding history and culture, using emerging technology, building networks, making ethical decisions, and helping others contribute what they know. The expanding team begins turning individual talent into coordinated humanitarian capability.
Series 6 - Using New Skills
The lessons accumulated across the earlier adventures are put to work. Using New Skills is about capability becoming consequential—young people and adults applying practical knowledge, professional relationships, judgment, technology, leadership, and teamwork in situations where other people genuinely need them. The network grows beyond a single team as knowledge is shared, communities become partners, and people who once needed help themselves become organizers, instructors, and leaders. The series explores how service can multiply: learn something useful, apply it responsibly, teach it to someone else, and build stronger systems that continue working after one emergency has ended.
Series 7 - New Pathways
New pathways open both literally and figuratively as the team travels, cycles, explores the C&O Canal corridor, encounters new communities, and faces increasingly complex questions involving safety, careers, technology, intelligence, relationships, history, and personal direction. A dramatic Great Falls search-and-rescue story shows how quickly an enjoyable outdoor setting can become dangerous—and how prevention, judgment, trained professionals, teamwork, and knowing when to seek help matter before an emergency begins. Throughout the series, familiar characters continue growing while new interests and opportunities show that there is rarely only one route toward a meaningful life.
Series 8 - New England Trails
New England becomes the setting for one of Adventure Universe's broadest combinations of history, technology, public safety, and high-stakes adventure. Cold War naval activity, coastal observation and surveillance, U.S.–Soviet tensions, working harbors and submarines share the story with severe weather and a major hurricane search-and-rescue response. Against that backdrop, the team continues exploring how observation, preparedness, communication, emergency skills, leadership, technology, and professional service connect—and how places that appear familiar and safe can contain risks that demand knowledge rather than assumptions.
Adventure Universe is expanding beyond the novels through audio, cinematic storytelling, and visual experiences designed to bring readers closer to the worlds, characters, and ideas within the stories.
Beyond the Page
Current development is focused on interactive and immersive experiences that move beyond watching an adventure and begin allowing participants to step inside it—exploring environments, making decisions, solving problems, and discovering the real-world skills and ideas woven into the stories.
The long-term vision is an Adventure Universe that can be read, heard, watched, explored, and experienced—using technology to deepen the connection between storytelling, curiosity, learning, and participation.
