SERIES 2 — Adventures in the Pacific Northwest
Follow the Series 2 story one book at a time. Each of the seven books continues the same larger adventure as JJ, Janet, KC, Teddy, and their growing circle travel farther from home, encounter new people and environments, develop new skills, and face challenges that increasingly test what they have learned.
Readable editions are being prepared for release. Audio editions are planned as part of the developing multi-voice Adventure Universe experience and are not yet available for purchase.
BOOK 1
Series 2 begins close to home as the characters continue building the Bowie Hug-A-Tree program and discovering how a community effort can grow through schools, families, public service, and the people willing to help. Ordinary life remains important, giving the expanding organization a human foundation even as new responsibilities begin appearing.
That familiar world is disrupted when JJ notices something that does not seem right and becomes involved as a witness in a developing law-enforcement investigation. Observation, reporting, identification, and testimony introduce a very different kind of responsibility, while the continuing threat makes clear that the team's adventures are beginning to move into more serious territory.
BOOK 2
School and learning remain part of the adventure as chemistry tutoring teaches JJ another useful lesson: difficult problems become easier when they are broken into understandable pieces. Memorial activities, navigation, outdoor preparation, and survival training continue broadening what the group knows and what they are capable of doing together.
Those lessons become much less theoretical when the unresolved threat forces the characters into a genuine protective situation. Preparation, navigation, communication, and judgment suddenly matter as the group must leave the familiar behind, turning what began as learning and practice into the beginning of a much larger journey.
BOOK 3
The journey reaches the Pacific Northwest and opens an entirely different world. Shaw Island, its monastery and farm, new friends and mentors, boating, agriculture, food, regional history, and new career possibilities give the characters countless reasons to ask questions and learn from the people around them.
Adventure and learning collide during a cold-water emergency that makes the risks of helping someone intensely personal. JJ and Janet begin to understand not only what it feels like to take a risk for someone else, but what it feels like to watch someone you care about take that risk. A visit to Mount Constitution helps restore the sense of wonder without erasing what they have learned from the experience.
BOOK 4
Life in the islands begins developing a new routine. Farming, boating, cooking, tourism, marine science, public service, and regional history—including the unusual story of the Pig War—give the group new skills and a deeper understanding of the communities around them. Trips through the San Juan Islands and Victoria continue expanding that world.
But increased visibility brings consequences. Publicity surrounding earlier events makes the group's location harder to protect, forcing families and professionals to think differently about security while the young organization encounters new kinds of threats facing other people. Series 2 is no longer simply about what the characters themselves can learn; it is increasingly about what they can recognize, organize, and do for others.
BOOK 5
A large mountain-rescue exercise brings together many of the professional worlds the characters have been discovering: search and rescue, incident command, aviation, smokejumpers, medical response, wildfire operations, avalanche rescue, and the teamwork required when many specialized people must function as one system.
Alongside the action is a quieter story about belonging as Arthur finds a place within the expanding group. But the threat that has followed the team has not disappeared. Just as the characters become more comfortable with their growing abilities and new relationships, events force them to move again—turning an exercise built around preparedness into preparation for dangers much closer to them personally.
BOOK 6
The journey continues across western Canada through Vancouver, British Columbia's interior, Jasper, Lake Louise, and Banff. Wildlife, mountains, transportation, food, culture, history, and the people who live and work in these places turn travel into another form of education.
At the same time, the danger following the group keeps drawing closer. Law enforcement works to catch up while warnings are missed and the characters continue moving through places that appear safe. The contrast between spectacular travel and an approaching threat builds steadily, showing how easily important information can be overlooked until the consequences are already unfolding.
BOOK 7
The pursuit reaches its most dangerous stage in the Canadian Rockies. An abduction triggers a coordinated response involving law enforcement, aviation, search teams, wilderness skills, and people on both sides of the border. What follows pushes JJ and the others into circumstances far beyond anything they expected when Series 2 began.
An avalanche and wilderness survival challenge test preparation, judgment, endurance, and the ability to keep going when help cannot arrive immediately. Reunion brings relief, but the story also makes room for medical recovery, emotional consequences, and the effects that serious events leave behind. As the group eventually returns through Seattle and prepares to leave the Pacific Northwest, new careers, relationships, and opportunities point toward an organization—and an Adventure Universe—that has become much larger than the one that arrived.
